Weligama Bay View

This beautiful and stylish 5-bedroom villa to rent on the south coast of Sri Lanka is perched above the ocean on the edge of Weligama Bay. The villa is on the upper level of terraced gardens which lead down to the sandy beach. There are wonderful southerly views across the surf break and out to sea. The seasonal blue whale feeding area is directly off shore, and boats leave to see them just a 5 minute walk from the villa.

The 15m salt water swimming pool is on the level below the house with steps leading from it down to the final level with the private beach gate. There is also an alfresco shower tucked into the steps, leading down to the beach. Between mid-December and early April, there is a left-hand surf break that experienced surfers can paddle out from the beach gate. The lawns are immaculately kept, and raised flower beds line the walls. Within the garden is a ‘swing with-a-spectacular view’ as well as a Boules court. Bose speakers are also discreetly nestled into the garden.

The French owners have decorated and furnished the villa in an elegant style, with white washed walls and Farrow & Ball green shutters, which add to the tranquil and relaxing atmosphere of this modern-colonial, terraced retreat. The rooms are furnished with antique furniture, rich textiles and canopy beds,  while exposed polished cement, creates a charming contemporary-chic feel. The open-plan living room has stunning polished tiled floors and a high vaulted ceiling with elegant grey sofas from where guest can enjoy the views. There is satellite TV/DVD, Wi-Fi,  and a surround sound system. There are four bedrooms in the main house, and the fifth bedroom is in a garden suite a few metres away from the main house. All bedrooms have air conditioning, overhead fans and fitted mosquito nets, as well as spacious modern en-suite bathrooms.
